We are asking for prayer for our adoption. Would you please take a few moments and pray for us? We are at a pivotal point in our adoption process and the next few days will determine whether or not we are able to travel for our court trip before the courts close in August.
Please pray that we would get our guardianship letter from the local courts in Harar and be submitted to the courts for a court hearing as soon as possible. Pray for favor with the courts in Addis Ababa so that we get a court date before the courts close in mid-August. Pray that we would pass court when we travel before they close and that we would get our court decree before the courts close as well.
Here is what is going on. Several weeks ago (when I last posted) we had found out that the only thing the staff in Ethiopia needed was the death certificate before they could submit us for a court date. A week later, when they finally got the death certificate, we were informed that they also still needed a guardianship letter before we could be submitted for a court hearing. Last Tuesday we heard from the agency again. They told us that one of the staff in Ethiopia traveled to Harar (where our kids are) and found out that the courts needed at least 4-6 weeks to create our guardianship letter. This staff person did a little research and found out that our twins' birth mom is Muslim. Because of this, they were able to submit our paperwork to the Muslim court in Harar and have them create the guardianship letter. Last Tuesday they said it would take 2 weeks before the letter would be ready.
We are praying that the guardianship letter would be ready soon so they can submit us to court by the end of next week. The agency staff are guessing that the courts will close around August 16. If we don't get to court before then, we will have to wait until October to go to court. If that is the case, we likely won't get the kids home until early 2013.
Would you please join us in prayer? We know God can do anything. We are desperate for a miracle in our adoption and would love for you to pray with us! The desire of our hearts is to get these babies home as soon as possible. And in order to do this, we need to get to court before it closes in August. We are so very grateful for all your prayers.
