Luggage found and a crabby baby

hello. here is a little update from the past 2 days. the computer was broken until today. so if it breaks again that will be why there is a lapse in updates.

after going to the airport and coming home empty handed and calling the airport what felt like 1000 times, we finally got our luggage. it was the best phone call i've received since the agency called to tell us about our kids. :)

liliana was a wonderfully content baby the first day. since then she has started to get sick and crabby. i am sure all parents can relate to the helpless feeling of having a sick baby and not knowing what she wants. she is teething like crazy and today has started to pull on her ears. it's especially hard because we are still learning about each other. she seems to be comforted most by me or a bottle. so we start there and try to figure out what she needs. we have a doctor coming today that lives in Ethiopia, but is from the US ... so that should be good.

michael - (we have been calling him milkie) - has been mostly happy. he enjoys bubbles, soccer, playing with cars, and going to the bathroom. the boy pees probably every hour at least and poops 3-5 times a day. and when he has to go, he has to go. no waiting around. we have to chase him to get there to pull down his pants and aim his wee-wee so the entire bath doesn't get a shower. (sorry if that was too much information).

back to the first night - they slept great the first night. almost 12 hours of uninterrupted sleep. matt and i were so tired that we joined them in going to bed at 7 pm. we woke up at 3 (matt and i) and chatted for an hour because we weren't tired anymore.

milkie has started to talk more in the last 24 hours. he is so cute when he talks. his voice is very sweet. right now he has stacked all the puzzle pieces in a toy and is pulling it around so they all fly out. he is going to LOVE playing with his cousin alex. they will for sure be 2 peas in a pod. anytime we tell him not to do something he looks at us and gives us his beautiful smile. it's going to be hard to discipline him!

liliana is also talking a lot - baby talk that is. she loves making and repeating sounds. she also loves raspberries when we change her.

there is so much more to tell about, but at the moment i can't remember. more soon.

  1. Maybe Liliana has an earache? That could be why she is tugging. My kids got tremendous relief from putting olive oil on cotton balls and putting the cotton ball into their ears (gently of course). When Eleanor was old enough to speak she would tell us that she felt hers ears "popping" from the olive oil and that she felt much better. That is just a home remedy I thought I'd share if you cannot get any medicine where you are.
