We found out yesterday that the judge did not show up at court the day the twins' birth mom had her court hearing. As outraged as I was, I had to shake it off because this is all too common in international adoption. There was another judge at the courthouse that day, but he wouldn't hear the case. So, the birth mom interview was rescheduled for Monday, August 20.
In the midst of another setback, I am realizing that we have so many reasons to be thankful. It is so easy during the adoption process, or any other hard time in your life, to think about how awful the situation is. Matt and I have been working hard to remember all the reasons we have to be grateful even though things are not going the way we would want them to go. We are learning that God is in control and He truly does have our best interest at heart. We know His hand is in our adoption and that He will work together all the pieces of our adoption so that the twins come home at the perfect time for our family and His glory.
We will make sure to update the blog as soon as we have information about our newest court date of August 20. By the way, with this latest development with our adoption, we will not be traveling to Ethiopia in August. However, we hope to be among the first families to travel in October when the courts reopen.
Thanks for all your prayers, love, and support throughout this adoption. We are so grateful for all of you!
“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts." --Isaiah 55:8-9
