Today is a good day. Today my face hurts from smiling so much. Today we got the second best call of the year. Susan, our adoption coordinator, called this morning to tell me WE ARE TRAVELING FOR COURT IN OCTOBER!! I was stunned. We had been praying that we would find out when we needed to travel by the end of the week, but I was almost sure that was impossible. But, alas, NOTHING is impossible with God. We are seeing the fruit of our bold prayers today and it feels amazing. Praise God!
We haven't finalized our travel plans yet, but we do know a few things:
1. We plan to travel to Harar to meet our kids and spend time with them where they have been living for the past 6 months. I originally thought we would drive there from Addis Ababa, but found out today that we will actually fly there. It is a 45 minute flight from Addis to Dire Dawa and then an hour drive from Dire Dawa to Harar.
2. Our court date is schedule for October 29. That is the day we need to be in Addis and we need to meet our twins in person before that date.
3. We are planning to meet the twins' birth mom. We are nervous about meeting her, but excited too. We didn't get the opportunity to meet Michael and Liliana's birth mothers (which was out of our control) and that is my biggest regret... if you can call it that... for our adoption of Michael and Liliana. I still hope to be able to meet their birth mothers some day.
After we pass court on Oct 29, the twins will legally be our children! Then -- be so excited for this -- we can FINALLY post pictures online of their beautiful faces! We will also announce their names at that point (again, BE EXCITED!)
We have a few needs leading up to our trip:
1. First of all, prayer! We would love for you to join us in prayer as we prepare for our trip.
--Pray for the twins' birth mom. She has her court date on Oct 17. Pray that she is able to get there (she needs to travel from near Harar to Addis Ababa for the court hearing) and that everything goes well.
--Pray for our travel (safety, that our luggage arrives with us(!), health). Pray that our court hearing on Oct 29 goes well and the judge approves us right away. Pray that we get all the documents we need after our court hearing right away. Finally, pray for the kids. I am a little nervous about leaving the kids home. I know they will do great, but it still makes me a little nervous. :)
2. We are also in need of 3 old suitcases. We are bringing a ton of donations to the care center in Harar and need a way to get them there. We would plan on leaving the suitcases there. If you have an old suitcase that you don't need anymore, we would love it. I will even come and pick it up from you.
It will likely be another 3-4 months before we get to bring the kids home after court. However, we are boldly praying and believing we will have the twins home by the end of the year. We would love for you to join us in praying for this miracle.
Thank you all for your love, support, prayer, and donations towards this adoption. These kids are so blessed already and it's all thanks to you. We have been blown away by how supportive, loving, and generous our friends and family have been throughout this journey and we are so very grateful to you. And we want to give a special shout out to a very special family that has helped us out beyond what we could have ever imagined. They are a true example of Christ's love to us and we just love them so much. You know who you are, my very special friends. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
