We arrived safe in Ethiopia last night and I got to tell Matt three of the sweetest words to our ears: "Our luggage arrived!" For those of you who have been following our blog for the long haul, I am sure you remember the story. Two and a half years ago when we adopted Michael and Liliana, our luggage didn't arrive with us. So, this time having our luggage arrive with us was a huge blessing. :)
Our travel to Ethiopia Tuesday afternoon had a rocky start. Our flight out of Minneapolis to Chicago was delayed. First for an hour, then two and a half hours. With the two and a half hour delay, we were going to miss our connecting flight to Germany. We talked to the gate agent in perfect time. We got the last two open seats on an earlier flight to Chicago. Praise God for that! We made it to Chicago with less than an hour before our next flight (to Germany). Our flight to Germany with uneventful. We arrived in Germany at 2 AM our time. That flight was slightly delayed, so again we had just enough time to go to the bathroom before boarding the final flight to Addis Ababa. The flight to Addis was relatively uneventful as well. We did have a fuel stop in Sudan, but stayed on the plane for that.
We arrived safely at the Addis airport at 9:15 PM Ethiopian time yesterday (1:15 PM our time). We got to the guesthouse, which is very nice. Today we've had a lazy morning and are gearing up for our next flight to Dire Dawa which is this afternoon. Tomorrow we will get to meet the twins! We are so excited to finally meet them.
We are missing our Michael and Liliana, but did get to talk to them for a few minutes last night. We are looking forward to seeing them next week. :)
We will update again as we can. Probably after we meet the twins. Many blessings to you all!
Love,
Becca and Matt
