The Childrens' Court

Today we had our court appointment with the local Ethiopian district judge.  The appointment went very well.  From the time we walked in to the waiting room to the time we walked out was a short 7 minutes.  The conversation with the judge was good and it gave us the feeling that the judge was not simply interested in filling out paperwork but had some genuine concern for the long-term welfare of the children that are being adopted out.

It was quite surprising to be the last people in a waiting room that already contained 15+ couples and to be the first people called to go in and speak with the judge.  We answered the judge's questions and we able to talk about our current kids and the importance of them knowing other adopted Ethiopian children as well as being exposed to the Ethiopian culture.  I know I had a goofy smile on my face for the entire interview and we were both quite excited when she told us that our adoption was APPROVED!

As for the duration of our trip, we will be going to the airport in about an hour and from there traveling for about 24 hours.

Get ready for pictures and videos after we get home on Tuesday.

Blessings,
Matt and Becca
