Reason #19: They play well together
I am hoping this is not an extended "honeymoon" stage because I very much enjoy that our kids play well together. For the most part, we can leave them to play for extended periods of time and they have a ball. I'm not taking all day - just enough time to clean a bathroom or make dinner. Don't get me wrong, we do have to intervene on occasion. But the general rule for our kids is playing well together.
It's really nice having the kids so close in age for this very reason. They have been interested in the same toys since we got that home. That might have more to do with wanting to play together than with the toy itself, though.
But, what is more entertaining than reading about how well our kids play together is reading about the funny times they didn't play so well together. So I'll share a couple of those stories. :)
Liliana really knows how to push Michael's buttons. Her favorites are: getting in to his seat when we tell them to go to the table at mealtimes, getting into his bed at bedtime, and lying on top of him (he won't push her off or stand up. He just lays there and whines).
Just a few months ago, Michael and Liliana were playing with a musical toy. Liliana didn't know how to operate the switch yet that turned the toy on and off. I watched at distance as Michael turned the toy off and then smiled when Liliana started to cry because she couldn't get it back on.
Thank goodness stories like these are not the norm. We are so blessed to have two little ones that enjoy each others' company most of the time!
